Definition

The terms packaged goods, consumer packaged goods (CPGs) or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) all refer to goods that are:

  • usually sold in smaller packages,
  • carry a low unit price,
  • are distributed through food and drug retailers,
  • are heavily promoted (usually in mass media), and
  • are bought and consumed frequently.[1]
