Expert Systems

Definition

In modeling, expert systems are interactive computer systems that, by applying a variety of knowledge elements (e.g., facts, rules, models) within a specified domain, can solve a problem with an expertise comparable to that of an acknowledged human expert.

As part of the developments in artificial intelligence, expert systems have been developed in various fields (marketing, medicine, defense, manufacturing, etc.)

In marketing research, expert systems are computer-based artificial intelligence systems that attempt to model how experts in the area process information to solve the problem at hand.
